ComputerBank Illawarra
is open every Wednesday and Friday between 10am and 3pm to
accept your old or unwanted computers. We accept desktop and
notebook computers whether they are working or not. If they
have "blown up" there are usually some useable parts
that we can salvage from them.
Please note that all hard drives are zero filled before recycling.
This means that confidential information is erased before
the subsequent
new operating system is installed. As a security conscious
organisation
we zero fill each hard drive twice before they are put in
the pool for
recycling. So you can be reassured that your personal, private
and
business information is erased long before a linux operating
system,
such as PCLinuxOS is installed on the hard drive/computer
tower you have donated.
We accept computers occasionally Pentium III but mainly Pentium
IV
upwards. We do appreciate all the donations that we receive
and send out a big thank you to everyone who has donated computers
to us. You have made a substantial difference to the quality
and computer access in
other people's lives
We do not accept all types of Ewaste. We do not accept fax
machines, TVs, stereos, mobile phones, or kitchen appliances.
Computers are what we are interested in.

We accept some Macintosh computers. It would be helpful if
they were no older than three years.
Or, if you are a business that is doing a major upgrade and
are
wondering what to do with your old hardware, we would love
to hear from
you. Previously we have accepted up to 100 cpu boxes from
large
organisations that were doing a major upgrade.
Please refer to our links page for other options for recycling.
